Cathie Perrault, Northstar’s executive director, was elected to serve a three-year term on the National Council of Problem Gambling Board of Directors at the recent national conference held in Orlando. Cathie has been Northstar’s executive director since October 2009.

“I’m thrilled to be part of national efforts to further the cause of problem gambling,” says Cathie. “This will provide an opportunity to be more engaged with awareness and treatment efforts throughout the country, and give us a great chance to learn from what’s working well in other states.”

Cathie has more than 20 years experience in communications and program administration in alcohol and drug abuse and mental health. She previously served on the National Council’s affiliate committee to plan the annual National Problem Gambling Awareness Month campaigns and on the affiliate nominations committee. Cathie has also worked with other state affiliates to provide training in social media.

Cathie would like to hear ideas and feedback from anyone in Minnesota who would like to discuss the issue of problem gambling. She can be reached at or at (612) 424-8595.
